MOSCOW, October 22 (RIA Novosti) - Three people have died and three more have been injured after hurricane Gonzalo hit Britain with heavy rains and winds of up to 108 mph on Tuesday, the Daily Mail reports.

One woman was killed when a tree was uprooted by high winds opposite Knightsbridge Barracks, Kensington, the London Ambulance Service said.

Elsewhere, a man died after a van he was repairing fell on him in Canvey, Essex. A strong gust of wind pushed the vehicle off a car jack and on to him.

Another man was killed after his car hit a bridge near Merseyside, Liverpool. Winds of up to 35 mph and heavy rains were registered in the area where the crash occurred. Despite poor weather conditions, police do not consider the incident weather-related.

Three more people were injured at Southwick Recreation Ground in West Sussex after a tree fell down. They were taken to a local hospital with head and spinal injuries.

Two children were also hospitalized after a concrete block fell from the roof of a kindergarten and crashed through the ceiling of their classroom.

High winds and heavy rains led to delays on rails, roads and caused Heathrow to cancel 10 percent of flights. The disruption affected 20 airlines serving the airport, as over 110 flights were cancelled.

Elsewhere, flood warnings were issued for part of the Norfolk coast and power outages have struck hundreds of homes in Scotland, Wales and Cornwall.
