KIEV, August 2 (RIA Novosti) – Ukraine’s military plans to buy unmanned aircraft for photo and video survey, an advisor of the Ukrainian interior minister told UNIAN news agency on Saturday.

“Professional unmanned aircraft costs hundreds of thousands or maybe millions of dollars and we did not receive them,” Anton Heraschenko was quoted by the agency as saying.

“Of course, today the priority of the government, the defense ministry and the National Guard is to purchase this equipment,” he added.

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, who heads the state commission, investigating the Boeing crash in eastern Ukraine, said that drones could be used to control the territory in Donetsk Region.

Earlier this week, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said the country spends 70 million hryvnias ($5.8 million) daily on conducting the special military operation in the southeast.

Cash-strapped Ukraine was forced to introduce a 1.5-percent military tax based on workers' income to finance the operation.

The Pentagon announced on Friday that the United States plans to spend $19 million next year to help train and equip Ukraine’s National Guard.

Moscow has repeatedly condemned Kiev’s «war against own people» and urged to stop the punitive operation immediately, advocating for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
