MOSCOW, October 1 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday congratulated his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, on the 65th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, stressing that closer ties between the two nations would help bolster global stability and security, the Kremlin said.

"I greatly appreciate the trust and mutual understanding that exists between us. I believe that by working together we will be able to forward the entire bulk of mutually beneficial bilateral relations between Russia and China," President Putin said in an official congratulatory message published by the Kremlin.

He emphasized that closer cooperation between Moscow and Beijing serves the interests of both neighbor nations and "contributes to stability and security in the world."

"Russian-Chinese relations have reached an unprecedentedly high level of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation," the message stated.

The Russian leader also said that in the recent years the partner nations had energized bilateral political dialogue, as well as financial, industrial, humanitarian, energy and trade cooperation.

October 1 is a national holiday in China marking the founding of the Communist Party. Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia's East Asian neighbor had made significant headway in fulfilling the so-called "Chinese dream," a set of ideas aimed at national rejuvenation and overall improvement of individuals' livelihood.

Russia has been looking to reinvigorate its alliances in the Asia-Pacific as part of its foreign policy pivot to the region, which has gained in importance following Moscow's split with the West over its handling of the Ukraine crisis.
