WASHINGTON, September 21 (RIA Novosti) – The man, who intruded the White House Friday had a knife with him and claimed he was a veteran of Iraqi military operations, ABC TV channel has reported, citing a compliant released Sunday.
The suspect is charged with unlawful entry into the protected area with a weapon, he faces up to ten years in prison.
The incident took place on Friday, when Omar Gonzalez, 42, jumped over the fence of the White House and headed to its entrance ignoring the demands of the security officers to stop. He was arrested already inside the White House, which the Secret service said was unacceptable.
US President Obama and the members of his family were not at the residence at the moment of the incident.
