KIEV, September 5 (RIA Novosti) – The Ukrainian armed forces are set to fully observe the ceasefire regime that will come into force at 15:00 GMT, a spokesman for the country’s National Security and Defense Council said Friday.

“The Ukrainian side will follow the president’s order in full,” spokesman Andriy Lysenko said.

Earlier in the day, participants of the Contact Group in Minsk signed a protocol envisaging a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine. Both the Kiev government and the self-defense forces reiterated their commitment to the plan.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko ordered the pro-government forces to stop military actions starting 6 p.m. local time (15:00 GMT), as stated in the protocol. The president also called for strict observance of the agreements reached in Minsk and urged the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and the OSCE to provide international monitoring of compliance with the bilateral ceasefire.
