MOSCOW, August 9 (RIA Novosti) – At least five Palestinians died on Saturday in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli airstrikes, Agence France-Presse reported Saturday citing local emergency services spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra.
According to the agency, two men died in a strike that "targeted a motorbike in the Al-Maghazi camp". The bodies of three other victims were discovered under the debris "of the Al-Qassam mosque" that was attacked in the Nuseirat refugee camp.
The death toll in the first month of Israel’s Operation Protective Edge in Gaza, launched on July 8, stood at 1,898 people, according to Palestinian medics' estimates. The offensive has also claimed lives of 67 Israelis.
On Friday, Israel withdrew from the ceasefire talks in Cairo after Palestinian militants resumed rocket attacks, refusing the proposal to extend the humanitarian pause, according to media reports.
