MOSCOW, July 29 (RIA Novosti) - The European Union has agreed to widen its Ukraine sanctions list adding four Russian companies and imposing asset freezes and travel bans on four businessmen, Agence France-Presse reported Tuesday citing an EU source.
The names will appear Wednesday in the European Union’s Official Journal.
The new sanctions target “persons and entities supporting or benefitting from Russian decision-makers,” in addition to 87 people and 20 organizations already subject to EU sanctions, the agency said.
EU was expected to approve much wider economic sanctions against Moscow.
Russia has repeatedly called the «language of sanctions» counterproductive and said these measures would have a boomerang effect on European economies.
