MOSCOW, July 27 (RIA Novosti) - British Prime Minister David Cameron is not thinking that Russia should be denied the right to host the World Cup in 2018, as previously stated by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, the Guardian magazine reported.

The deputy prime minister said in an interview with Sunday Times on Sunday that the ban on holding the sporting events should be a part of the EU sanctions package against Russia.

"The prime minister does not believe we should reach immediately for boycotts, but it is also not surprising, given Russian behaviour, that people are starting to raise the issue," a representative of the prime minister said.

Russia won the right to host the FIFA World Cup 2018 in December 2010. Recently, a number of Western politicians have called to deprive Russia of the right to host the championship.

On Friday, the International Football Federation (FIFA), said that the boycott of major sporting events is not an effective method of solving problems.
