MOSCOW, June 9 (RIA Novosti) – A two-day trilateral meeting between diplomats from Iran, the United States and the European Union focused on Tehran’s nuclear program are kicking off in Geneva this Monday.

Iranian deputy foreign minister Abbas Araqchi will represent Tehran during the talks. The US delegation will be headed by Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy R. Sherman is expected to accompany him at the meeting.

Earlier it was confirmed that EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton and another senior EU official Helga Schmidt would join the negotiations.

Iran said it would also hold a separate meeting with Russia, scheduled for June 11-12 in Rome.

Both meetings come ahead of another round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 group, which is to start June 16 in Vienna.

Tehran and six international mediators including Russia, the United States, Britain, China, Germany and France are convening in Vienna aiming to finalize a deal to curb Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for a partial halt of US and EU sanctions on the Middle Eastern country.
