MOSCOW, May 26 (RIA Novosti) – The anti-EU UK Independence Party has swept to victory in recent European parliamentary elections and British Prime Minister David Cameron said the victory has been “received and understood” in a BBC interview.

“I take a very clear message from this election: people are deeply disillusioned … they want change. That message is received and understood,” Cameron said.

“I want to see a genuine renegotiation. My view is that it's in the national interest to stay in a reformed European Union,” he added.

The UKIP party swept to victory in European elections, riding a tide of Euroscepticism and anxiety about immigration to best Cameron’s Conservatives and the opposition Labour party.

Preliminary results of the elections showed that with 64 out of 73 seats already declared, UKIP had won 23 seats, beating the Conservatives and Labour who took 18 seats each.

The UK Independence Party is known for its platform to pull Britain out of the European Union.

The Prime Monister also noted that he is not considering any sort of a deal with the UKIP. “We don't do pacts or deals. Conservative candidates will stand as Conservatives,” he said.

“We don't agree with the Lib Dems on Europe, they think everything is fine with Europe,” Cameron said.

All across Europe far-right, far-left or nationalist forces gained in the European parliamentary elections, with the Eurosceptics gaining political momentum.
