International experts are set to gather in New York on Monday for a week of talks on an agreement to limit Teheran’s attempts to produce nuclear weapons.

MOSCOW, May 5 (RIA Novosti) – International experts are set to gather in New York on Monday for a week of talks on an agreement to limit Teheran’s attempts to produce nuclear weapons.

After a temporary deal was reached last November, the main goal of the current negotiations is to establish a permanent accord that would satisfy all parties before July 20. The talks are to be attended by representatives from Russia, China, France, Germany, UK and the US.

On Sunday, Iran announced that it would allow international nuclear inspectors to visit the country this week. According to Tehran’s nuclear program spokesperson Behrouz Kamalvandi, inspectors would be able to visit uranium mines in Ardakan and Yazd as early as Monday and Tuesday. If the inspection goes as planned, Iran would fulfill all the commitments of the United Nations’ nuclear organization given in February. Teheran is required to meet seven articles of the deal reached with the UN by May 15.

Last month, a report issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that Iran has neutralized half of its enriched uranium stockpile. In February, the IAEA reported that Iran’s stockpile of partially-enriched uranium hexafluoride dropped to 160 kilograms, a reduction of almost 20 percent. The West in return eased certain economic sanctions against Teheran.

The current talks in New York, which will last from Monday to Friday, will be followed by another round of negotiations in Vienna scheduled for May 13.
