MOSCOW, August 19 (RIA Novosti) - A few people were injured in an explosion that occurred in the center of the Bulgarian capital Sofia on Sunday, local media reported.
According to the Sofia News Agency (the Novinite.com portal), the blast occurred in a Chinese restaurant on the second floor of a building opposite the Russian St. Nicholas Church shortly after 7 p.m.
Private TV station Nova TV said no deaths had been reported. According to Darik radio, nine people were injured.
One of those injured is in a serious condition.
Bulgaria’s Interior Ministry said a gas cylinder had exploded and caused the building’s façade to collapse.
Interior Minister Tsvetlin Yovchev, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova and other officials have arrived at the scene. An inspection is underway, Novinite.com reported.
