MOSCOW, July 16 (RIA Novosti) – It took police several hours to chase and capture a wild boar running amok on the streets of the Czech capital, IDnes.cz news portal reported Monday.
The boar apparently swam from an island across the Vltava River and started a reckless run through three districts of Prague, breaking a front window of the Hilton Hotel, terrifying passers-by, stopping cars and forcing construction workers to climb the scaffolding.
The dramatic chase was caught on CCTV cameras and ended with a struggle between the runaway animal and police.
Several police officers managed to cover the boar with immobilizing mesh before the medics calmed the animal with three tranquilizer injections. One of the officers was injured in the struggle and had to seek medical treatment.
The unusual ‘hooligan’ was later handed over to the city’s wildlife authorities.
