Seven people were killed and 10 more injured when gunmen opened fire on a public meeting in a southern Pakistan village on Sunday night, according to Pakistani news outlet Dawn.
Among the dead were members of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Those injured included journalists and local administration officials.
The attack, which local officials say was rooted in a feud between two groups of town residents, took place in the village of Sadoro Janwari ahead of a PPP meeting.
Sources told Dawn the unidentified gunmen, which locals residents have contested were not from the area, opened fire as people began to assemble for the meeting.
