One of the FBI’s ten most wanted terrorists was killed in Yemen on Sunday evening, The New York Times said.
Fahd Mohammed Ahmed Al-Quso died in an airstrike in Yemen’s Shabwa Province, a tribal area controlled by insurgents, Yemeni auhtorities said.
FBI linked Al-Quso to the 2000 bombing of the U.S. Navy destroyer Cole, which left 17 people dead. The State Department had offered a $5 million reward for information leading to his capture or conviction.
A spokesman for a Qaeda-linked group in Yemen’s south confirmed Quso’s death and said that the airstrike was carried out by a U.S. drone.
U.S. officials said they needed a few days to confirm the information about the airstrike and possible casualties.
