A Euro-Atlantic security community is still a myth, but must become a reality, President Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday at the Euro-Atlantic Security Conference in Moscow.
"I would like to answer the main question which stands before us today - the myth or reality of Euro-Atlantic security community," he said. "It's still a myth, but this myth must become reality."
He stressed that a constructive and impartial dialogue was necessary in order to carry out practical steps.
"If we say it straight, Russia must secure creation of a Euro-Atlantic security community in which all must take part comfortably and be adequately protected. The global importance of this task is clear, and no matter how hard the road is, along which our country goes with other states, we are determined to go down that road," he said.
Medvedev stressed that Russia did not intend to take a wait and see position but intended to act.
