Yulia Tymoshenko, Ukraine’s jailed ex-prime minister, received a massage from her personal masseuse on Tuesday morning, the Ukrainian UNIAN news agency reported.
The masseuse brought her own massage table to the prison in Kharkiv region where Tymoshenko has been held since December 30. Doctors from the Ministry of Health (MOH) are also scheduled to visit Tymoshenko later in the day.
In October, Tymoshenko was found guilty of abuse of office when she signed gas deals with Russia in 2009. She has been sentenced to seven years in jail and ordered to pay $187 million in damages to the Naftogaz company. Tymoshenko said the charges against her were President Viktor Yanukovych's political revenge, which he has denied.
Lawyers for the ex-premier had claimed that Tymoshenko's health was deteriorating and that she was not receiving adequate treatment. At the same time, the press service of the National Prison Service of Ukraine (GPSU) reported that Tymoshenko had refused an offer of treatment.
