At least 24 Turkish soldiers were killed in attacks by Kurdish rebels in southeastern Hakkari province, Turkey's NTV channel said on Wednesday, citing sources in the security forces.
The attacks occured on Wednesday night near Cukurca on the border with Iraq, according to the report.
NTV speculated that the Turkish army might respond to the attacks with a cross-border operation into northern Iraq, where the bases of the separatist Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) are located.
