Two pilots were killed when a South Korean cargo plane crashed into the sea off the country's southern coast early on Thursday, Yonhap said.

The wreck of the Asiana Airlines Boeing-747-400F was found 107 kilometers to the west of the island of Jeju.

The pilots were the only people on board the plane, which was en route to China.

Preliminary investigation data show a fire on board the aicraft, which was carrying inflammable cargo, could become the reason of the crash, the news agency said.

Asiana Airlines is South Korea's second-largest flagship carrier.
