Eighteen people were killed on Tuesday when a minibus collided with a truck near the Polish capital of Warsaw, the BBC said.
The minivan, which was carrying 18 seasonal workers, collided with the Volvo truck during thick fog near the town of Nowe Miasto nad Pilica in Masovia Province in central Poland.
Sixteen people died at the scene of the accident and another two died later in hospital. The truck driver escaped with minor injuries.
All those killed were travelling in the minibus.
Police said the minibus was overcrowded, the BBC said.
"The vehicle was unsuitable for passengers. The people were not wearing seatbelts. They were sitting on crates," Police spokesman Mariusz Sokolowski told local television. "The bus swerved into the left-hand lane and hit a large articulated truck."
Neighboring Ukraine was also the scene of a deadly crash on Tuesday. A train collided with a passenger bus in the central Dnipropetrovsk region, leaving 40 dead and 12 wounded.
