The United Nations should be reformed, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov said.
UN reform is a normal, natural and logical process, Berdymukhamedov told Turkmen journalists on Sunday.
The president said Turkmenistan "shares the opinion that the Security Council structure should be further improved and that closer and more effective cooperation between the Security Council and the General Assembly should be arranged."
Berdymukhamedov also called for reinforcing the role of the UN and for strengthening and expanding the organization's functions as a guarantor of global peace, stability and development.
Berdymukhamedov said he supports efforts by UN member states and its secretary general aimed at making UN work more dynamic, effective, open and democratic.
