China's vice-president in North Korea to talk denuclearization

Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday on a three-day visit to discuss North Korea's nuclear program with the country's leadership.
BEIJING, June 17 (RIA Novosti) - Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday on a three-day visit to discuss North Korea's nuclear program with the country's leadership.

An official North Korean spokesman said that bilateral and international issues, including negotiations on the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, would be on the agenda during Xi Jinping's visit, which is to last until June 19.

"The six-nation talks have already brought good results. We are ready to unite our efforts with all our partners in order to achieve further progress," Qin Gang added.

The six-nation talks on North Korea's nuclear program involve China, Japan, Russia, the U.S. and the two Koreas.

The visit to North Korea is Xi Jinping's first foreign trip as Chinese vice-president.
