Medvedev inspects security systems in place on the Moscow metro

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev was given a tour of the new security systems in place to make Moscow’s metro network safer. One is a portable X-ray frame. According to the Moscow police chief Vladimir Kolokoltsev, it only takes a few minutes to scan abandoned handbags or plastic bags at stations. Medvedev ordered that these frames be installed across the metro as soon as possible.

The president also called for the guard dog service to be expanded.
President Medvedev slammed several police services and ordered transport security to be tightened following the January 24 bombing at the international terminal of Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport.
