MOSCOW, November 17 (R-Sport) - Russian league leaders Anzhi Makhachkala plan to restrict ticket sales for their Europa League clash with Udinese on Thursday.

Fans were forced to show identification and buy tickets by appointment for Anzhi’s last European game against Liverpool, with the stated aim of stopping “hooligans” infiltrating the crowd.

The same scheme will be used for the Udinese game but without last-minute open ticket sales on the day. Fans who attended the 1-0 win over Liverpool will enjoy priority for the best seats.

Anzhi drew 1-1 with the Serie A side in Udine in September.

After UEFA banned Anzhi from hosting European football at their home stadium due to security concerns about Russia’s restive North Caucasus, the team have held their home Europa League games at Lokomotiv Moscow’s ground, enraging many fans of the Railwaymen.

The tensions came to a head when fans of Moscow clubs attended Anzhi’s home game against AZ Alkmaar in August and hurled racist abuse at Anzhi fans, who predominantly hail from the Caucasus.
