Russia's Lashmanova Walk Record Ratified

Russian race walker Elena Lashmanova has had her world record set at the Olympic Games in London ratified by the International Association of Athletics Federations.

MOSCOW, November 7 (R-Sport) – Russian race walker Elena Lashmanova has had her world record set at the Olympic Games in London ratified by the International Association of Athletics Federations.

Lashmanova won Olympic gold in the women's 20km race walk, which she finished in 1 hour 25 minutes and two seconds.

The previous world record, set by Russia’s Vera Sokolova at the Russian Championships last year, was 1:25.08.

Other world records ratified by the IAAF Wednesday include the men’s 800 meters record set by David Rudisha of Kenya and Jamaica’s record in the men’s 4x100 meters relay.

The United States got its record in the women’s 4x100 meters relay ratified, while Nijel Amos of Botswana received a nod to his world junior record in the men’s 800 meters.

All the ratified records were set at the London Olympics.
