MOSCOW, September 15 (RIA Novosti)
FC Krasnodar “will do anything” to keep hold of star striker Yura Movsisyan, coach Slavoljub Muslin has told R-Sport.
Movsisyan, 25, has netted six goals in seven games this season is joint top scorer in the Russian Premier League.
The Armenian-American forward joined Krasnodar in January 2011 from Danish side Randers FC after spells with United States side the Kansas City Wizards and Real Salt Lake.
“We are not immune to the fact that Yura will leave us sometime,” Muslin said Friday. “He is on a two-year deal with us.”
“But we will do anything to retain Yura, I’m counting on him.”
Movsisyan has scored five times in 17 international appearances for Armenia.
Nineteen-year-old Senegalese striker Moussa Konate could be a worthy successor but needs time to develop, Muslin suggested.
“If he leaves, we’ll have to find another top forward. We have Moussa Konate, but he still has a bit of growing up to do.”
Krasnodar travel to Makhachkala to play Anzhi on Sunday.
