England and France were among five countries to secure places in the women’s competition at next year’s World Cup Sevens in Moscow on Sunday.

The Moscow stage of the European Grand Prix, taking place from June 30 to July 1, acts as the European qualification tournament for the World Cup, with Russia qualifying automatically as hosts.

England, France, Ireland, Spain and the Netherlands will all send teams to the world cup after England, France and Spain joined Russia in the semifinals of the main competition, while the Irish and Dutch teams qualified by virtue of reaching the final of the bowl.

The six European teams will be joined by New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, the United States and six qualifiers at next year’s tournament.
