Chelsea will have to meet Shakhtar Donetsk's valuation of Brazilian midfielder Willian if they are to sign the 23-year-old this summer, the Ukrainians' coach said Friday.
The talented winger has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over recent weeks, prompting Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu to warn he will not be leaving on a cut-price deal.
"Chelsea only need to pay us what we want and he will go," Lucescu said in comments passed on by the club's press service. "If they don't, Willian will stay, because he has a contract with our club."
Willian signed with the Eastern Europeans from Corinthians in 2007 and is contracted to summer 2014. He has two caps for Brazil, making his debut against Gabon in a November friendly.
He is one of nine Brazilians at the Shakhtar, starting regularly alongside Luis Adriano and Douglas Costa.
"For me it is no surprise they are the targets for European top clubs," Lucescu said.
"All these players cost us a lot, even though we took them to our team at the age of 19-22."
"We had to bring them up and help them to progress. Now that they have a well developed intellect, good mentality and international experience, their value has only risen."
With three games to go Shakhtar and Dynamo Kyiv share the top Premier League spot, both having 70 points.
