Suspended cyclist Denis Galimzyanov is the only member of the Katusha team under suspicion of a doping offense, and no other Katusha riders are involved in the incident, the team said Tuesday.

Cycling’s international UCI federation provisionally suspended Galimzyanov, an Olympic medal hope for Russia, on Monday after a urine sample he gave in March tested positive for the banned substance EPO.

“Katusha Team officially states that any other team member is not involved in this incident,” the team said in a statement on its website.

The team said it had also imposed a temporary ban on the rider and urged Galimzyanov to cooperate with the investigation.

“Katusha Team strongly recommends the rider to provide a full assistance with authorized anti-doping bodies.”

Galimzyanov will be suspended until the Russian Cycling Federation rules on his case, which may rest on the result of the so-called B sample he gave at the same time as the first sample.

No one at the Russian Cycling Federation was able to confirm Tuesday when the case will be heard.

Galimzyanov, 24, has been widely tipped to lead the Russian road race team in London and started 2012 with a stage win at the Circuit de la Sarthe before retiring injured.

In 2011, the specialist sprinter won the points classification at both the Tour of Beijing and the Three Days of de Panne.
