Ex-Barca Star Hleb Joins Russian Side Krylya Sovietov
MOSCOW, February 17 (RIA Novosti)
Former Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb has joined Krylya Sovietov Samara until the end of the season, the Russian Premier League side said Friday.
The 30-year-old Belarusian playmaker has been a free agent since being released by Wolfsburg, where he was on loan from Barcelona, last year.
Hleb will join up with Krylya, 13th in the league with 14 games remaining, on Saturday, the club said in a website statement.
Krylya are on an offseason tour of the Netherlands. The league resumes March 3.
Hleb, who has had a career blighted by injuries, has six goals in 55 international appearances for Belarus.
Krylya have three of Hleb's countrymen in the squad: striker Sergei Kornilenko, captain and center-back Dmitry Verkhovtsev, and goalkeeper Sergei Veremko.
