MOSCOW, August 22 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian Emergency Situations Ministry flight carrying an anti-epidemic team and a mobile laboratory has arrived in Guinea, a representative of the task force told RIA Novosti Friday.
The expert team includes epidemiologists, virologists and bacteriologists from Russian federal public health control service Rospotrebnadzor.
The Russian specialists are to work with colleagues from other countries to develop a new Ebola treatment, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets said Thursday.
The Ebola virus disease is a highly deadly illness transmitted through direct contact with the blood or bodily fluids of the infected. No licensed treatment or vaccine is yet available.
The number of deaths caused by the Ebola outbreak in West Africa has reached 1,350, according to the World Health Organization.
