MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Russian Armed Forces will take part in nine international exercises this summer, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Wednesday.
"As part of international military cooperation, there will be nine exercises, including counterterrorist drills Peaceful Mission, Russia-Belarus Unbreakable Brotherhood exercises, and also Russia-Mongolia [exercises] Selenga-2016," Shoigu said.
According to the defense minister, the strategic command-and-staff exercises Caucasus-2016 scheduled for September will be a concluding part of summer training.
Shoigu noted that the accomplishment of these exercises will ensure the required level of the Russian Armed Forces' preparedness to carry out tasks on the protection of the country's national interests.
