Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin expects Russia and China to be able to reach $ 200 billion in bilateral trade before 2020.

HARBIN, CHINA, June 30 (RIA Novosti) – Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin expects Russia and China to be able to reach $ 200 billion in bilateral trade before 2020.

“We have a task formulated by the leaders of Russia and China: to reach a volume of trade and economic interaction, amounting to $200 billion. But I think if we go forward at such an impressive rate, possibly, this level is achievable before [the 2020 target deadline],” Rogozin said during The First Russia-China Expo held in China’s northeastern city of Harbin.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister also expressed hope that the exhibition, running from June 30 to July 4, will become a tradition.

“I think that it will expand, and we are happy to extend support to the Russian and Chinese organizers,” Rogozin concluded, stressing earlier that China has been Russia’s key trade and economic partner for the past few years.

The Expo has been co-sponsored by the Russian Economic Development, Industry and Trade Ministries, as well as by China’s Ministry of Commerce and the authority of the Heilongjiang province, hosting the fair. The bilateral platform will focus on effective matchmaking of global corporations and big projects and create a communication environment for multilateral and multi-field cooperation.
