ASTANA, May 29 (RIA Novosti) – Russian, Belarus and Kazakhstan delegations working towards the Eurasian Economic Union (EAU) have resolved all disputes, Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said Thursday.
“We managed to resolve all disputes, maybe the leaders would like to discuss some more issues,” Shuvalov said.
On Wednesday Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that only some minor issues left unresolved on the draft treaty but the sides were expected to agree on them soon.
The headquarters of the Union will be in Moscow, while the court will be situated in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, Ushakov said. The EAU main financial regulator is to be located in Almaty, the largest city of Kazakhstan, the official added.
The EAU treaty will be comprised of two parts, Putin’s aide said. The first one will outline the goals and objectives of the Eurasian integration and the status of the full-fledged EAU as an international organization. The second part will be regulating the mechanisms of economic cooperation.
The heads-of-state of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia are convening in Astana on Thursday for a summit that is expected to result in the signing of the agreement on the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The three nations will enter into the obligation to guarantee the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor, and to ensure the implementation of coordinated policies in energy, industry, agriculture and transport sectors.
