Helicopter Goes Missing in Central Russia

A privately-owned Robinson R44 helicopter with three persons aboard went missing in the Tver Region in central Russia late on Saturday, local police said on Sunday.

MOSCOW, December 9 (RIA Novosti) – A privately-owned Robinson R44 helicopter with three persons aboard went missing in the Tver Region in central Russia late on Saturday, local police said on Sunday.

“The helicopter flew from the Tver Region to the Moscow Region at 11:30 p.m. According to preliminary information, there were three people aboard the helicopter,” the police said.

Rescue teams are searching for the helicopter, its pilot and passengers on the ground.

The helicopter, which belongs to a private individual, flew from the village of Ploski of the Konakovo district in the Tver Region northwest of Moscow and was scheduled to land in the Dmitrov District located 65 km (40 miles) north of the Russian capital.

The helicopter failed to transmit an emergency beacon signal, the police said.
