People from the UK, Russia and Germany were the most interested in booking travel to Baku, Azerbaijan, for the Eurovision-2012 song contest in May, Skyscanner said, citing data from its discount flight search engine.
The site's British, German and Russian users have made the most queries for ticket prices to Baku in the May 21-27 period, Skyscanner's press service said.
The most queries came from the UK, a perennial Eurovision loser that is hoping to change its luck this year by sending 75-year-old Engelbert Humperdinck, best known for his hits Release Me and The Last Waltz. The UK placed 11th in the Eurovision competition last year.
Russia, which had the second most Skyscanner queries, will be represented by folklore group Buranovskiye Babushki from Udmurtia republic, who will perform Party for Everybody. The oldest member of the band has turned 86. Russia finished 16th at Eurovision-2011.
Germany, last year's tenth-place finisher, will be represented in Baku by Roman Lob, 21, performing the song Standing Still.
The three leaders in the Skyscanner survey were followed by users from Turkey, Spain, Ireland, Norway, Italy, Switzerland and France.
Leading bookmakers William Hill and Ladbrokes have forecast a victory for Loreen, a Swedish singer of Moroccan descent, who will sing Euphoria. Punters favor Russia's group of babushki to win second.
Last year’s Eurovision winner was the Azerbaijani duet Ell & Nikki from Azerbaijan.
