Russia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) said on Wednesday almost 90% of the 1,686 violation reports it received after the December 4 State Duma elections proved to be untrue.

Russia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) said on Wednesday almost 90% of the 1,686 violation reports it received after the December 4 State Duma elections proved to be untrue.

“A total of 1,686 reports were submitted, including 978 from voters, 339 from parties, 149 from State Duma lawmakers, 81 from members of election commissions and 41 from candidates. One hundred and ninety-five of them proved to be true, which makes up 11.5%,” CEC member Sergei Danilenko told reporters.

Local electoral commissions received 4,406 complaints, 789 of them proved to be true.

The election official said law-enforcers launched probes into some of the reports.

The majority of requests came from Moscow and the Moscow Region (378) and St. Petersburg (57).
