The board of directors of Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has approved a new organizational structure, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

The board of directors of Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has approved a new organizational structure, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

The new structure will streamline the corporate management of the current and future aircraft projects by reducing the number of vice-presidents from nine to five and putting all four major departments - military, civilian, transport and special aviation - in one bloc under direct supervision of the president.

An executive vice-president will be responsible for the coordination of corporate development and management policies as well as relations with shareholders.

A vice-president on R&D and innovation will supervise all departments involved in research and development of new technologies.

UAC, a state-controlled corporation, was established in 2006 to streamline the Russian aircraft making industry. It incorporates aircraft-making and affiliated firms engaged in the manufacture, design and marketing of civilian and military aircraft, including unmanned aerial vehicles.

The corporation includes Russia's largest aircraft makers - Sukhoi, MiG, Ilyushin, Tupolev and Irkut.

UAC President Mikhail Pogosyan earlier said that the company was planning to occupy 10 percent of the global civil aircraft market and 15 percent of the military aircraft market by 2025. He added that the streamlining of the corporate structure could help reach this goal.
