The officials of Moscow's Domodedovo International Airport that saw a deadly terrorist attack on Monday should be held accountable, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said.
"The airport is modern and new, as everybody has confirmed. But the things that happened, show there were security violations. Everybody who makes decisions, including the airport's management itself, should be held accountable," Medvedev said, adding he had instructed Russia's Prosecutor General Yury Tchaika to check compliance to security measures at Domodedovo.
According to the latest reports, a suicide bomber blew herself up while opening a bag Monday afternoon in the airport's crowded international arrivals hall, killing at least 35 people and injuring up to 180.
"This is a terrorist act, this is grief, this is a tragedy," Medvedev said. "I hope law enforcement bodies are able to quickly determine the main explanation [for the terrorist act] and conduct an investigation," the president added.
