The wildfires raging in the forests surrounding the Sarov Federal Nuclear Center in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region will not cause any radiation threats even if the fire enters the territory of the Center, the head of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency Rosatom said on Saturday.

"It is possible to say for sure there are neither risks of nuclear threats nor the risks of any ecological threats or explosions on the territory of Sarov, even if the fire engulfs here," Sergei Kirienko said.

Earlier Rosatom's head also said there was no threat of a nuclear explosion at the Sarov Nuclear Center since all the explosive materials have been removed.

Over 3,000 people, four helicopters, four airplanes and 30 fire trucks were involved in putting out wildfires in proximity to the Sarov nuclear center.

The nuclear center will fully implement all the state orders despite the difficulties caused by the fires, Kirienko said.
