Russian prosecutors have not yet received information from Dresden, Germany, on corrupt practices at the high-tech corporation Hewlett-Packard

Russian prosecutors have not yet received information from Dresden, Germany, on corrupt practices at the high-tech corporation Hewlett-Packard, the Russian prosecutor general said on Wednesday.

Hewlett-Packard's executives are suspected of paying about $10.9 million in bribes approximately seven years ago to win a multi-million dollar contract. The company sold computer equipment through a German subsidiary to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

"We still do not have any information [on this case]. When we get the materials from Dresden, we will file suit," Yury Chaika said.

Russian investigators on April 14 searched the Moscow office of U.S. high-tech corporation Hewlett-Packard on a request from Germany.

"Investigations are being carried out as part of an international legal request received from the relevant authorities in Germany," the committee said on its website.

A Hewlett-Packard representative told RIA Novosti the company's employees were "providing assistance to the authorities."

According to the IDC market research company, HP is the leading company for printing equipment in Russia with 38% of the market, far ahead of its rivals Canon (23%) and Samsung (15%).
