MOSCOW, October 7 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit the Belarusian capital Minsk on October 10 where he will take part in a CIS summit, a meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Community and a meeting of the heads of state of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the Kremlin press service announced Tuesday in a press release.

"During his working visit to the Republic of Belarus on October 10, Vladimir Putin will take part in meetings of the CIS Council of Heads of States, the Interstate Council of the Eurasian Economic Community and the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council," the press release stated.

The CIS meeting will focus on the development of multilateral cooperation in the economic, humanitarian and law enforcement fields and will introduce several corresponding agreements to be signed, including the Statement on Strengthening the International Drug Control System. Summit participants will also approve an appeal to CIS member states and the global community in relation to the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.

During the meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Community, the presidents of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will summarize the results of the economic organization's work and sign an agreement on its termination.

The meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will focus on issues related to trade, finance, and the organization of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), scheduled to be launched on January 1, 2015. The EEU is aimed at increasing economic cooperation among its three member countries - Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia. On October 3, Putin signed a law ratifying the treaty on the creation of the EEU while the other two leaders are expected to do so before the meeting in Minsk.
