Argentina's President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner has called a statement made by the US Embassy for the US nationals about the increase of street crimes in the country a provocation.

BUENOS AIRES, October 1 (RIA Novosti) — Argentina's President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner has called a statement made by the US Embassy for the US nationals about the increase of street crimes in the country a provocation.

"Today, US Embassy statement addressing the US nationals, who live in our country [Argentina] or visit it as tourists said that awful things are happening in our country," Kirchner told national TV channels.

"This is a provocation, huge provocation, which I will not rise to," she added.

According to the Argentinian leader, the statement possibly aimed to initiate the deportation of the head of the US diplomatic mission in the country.

"We will not expel anyone," Kirchner said.

On September 30, the United States Embassy in Argentina warned the US citizens that the level of street crimes in the country has increased and urged them to be vigilant and avoid crowded places, demonstrations and mass protests.

The statement was made amid the deterioration of relations between the two countries.
