MOSCOW, September 9 (RIA Novosti) - The British Financial Conduct Authority is developing a plan of action to be implemented in case Scotland becomes independent.

“We have done some basic contingency planning… making sure phone lines are properly manned if people ring us, making sure we have a position as to what advice would be appropriate to give on day one,” the head of the Financial Conduct Authority John Griffith-Jones said Tuesday.

“It will be complicated to work out the deal until we have a discussion. There are simple ways to do it and more complicated ways,” Griffith-Jones added.

If the majority of Scots vote for independence during the upcoming referendum, then on March 24, 2016 Scotland will secede from the United Kingdom.

Scots will go to the polls on September 18, and will be asked one question only, “Should Scotland become an independent country?” The most recent YouGov opinion poll showed for the first time that the majority of Scots favor independence.
