On December 14, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev visited the hi-tech hub of Skolkovo to take part in the “Go Russia!” forum
The president urged Russia to fight back against brain drain by creating good working conditions in Russia. “In today’s world, brain drain is as common as document leaks,” said Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting of the commission for Russia’s modernization and technological development.
“I hope that none of our entrepreneurs, public or private, has the feeling that all of our work here will be funded by the government alone. If we were to do that, we would find ourselves trapped in a vicious circle, and we would never be able to create good, innovative businesses,” said the president at a meeting of the modernization commission.
“There should be government funding and investment, but this will not last forever because these investments are aimed at creating absolutely private companies that are independent from the government,” Medvedev said, adding that the government would not turn its back on investments in “the most needed systems and the most important programs.”
