MAKHACHKALA, November 16 (RIA Novosti) - Four militants were killed in two separate incidents during clashes between security forces and gunmen in the Khasavyurt region of Dagestan, local investigators told RIA Novosti on Friday.
"Two fighters were eliminated in a special operation in the suburbs of Khasavyurt, and two more died in a car in a village in the Khasavyurt region of the republic," an investigator said.
The two men who died in the car have been identified but not named, and according to the local interior ministry website were residents of Khasavyurt born in 1985 and 1988.
A Kalashnikov 5.45-mm calibre rifle, two grenades and explosives were seized, the police said, but did not say from where.
Russia's National Antiterror Committee previously announced on Friday morning that two men, who were part of a group previously involved in crimes including murders, had blockaded themselves in a house in Khasavyurt.
