Dagestan FSB Officer Murdered

A Federal Security Service (FSB) officer was shot dead in the Republic of Dagestan in Russia's North Caucasus overnight on Wednesday, regional investigators said.

MAKHACHKALA, November 14 (RIA Novosti) - A Federal Security Service (FSB) officer was shot dead in the Republic of Dagestan in Russia's North Caucasus overnight on Wednesday, regional investigators said.

"The officer was killed by unknown suspects at home in the village of Yubileiny near Khasavyurt. The attackers stole his car and escaped," they said.

The local Interior Ministry had previously reported that the attackers had robbed the officer's house and stabbed him to death.

"Four unknown people took prisoner a 43-year old FSB warrant officer from the Dagestan Region FSB, along with his wife and two children, stole 160,000 rubles (around $5,000) from his safe as well as gold jewelry and three telephones. They then led the man into the kitchen, stabbing him in the neck and chest," investigators said.

The man, named by investigators as Nutsalkhan Abdulkhabirov, later died at the scene.
