Russia hopes to open a trade mission in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by the end of 2015, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said Friday.

MOSCOW, October 10 (RIA Novosti) - Russia hopes to open a trade mission in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by the end of 2015, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said Friday.

"The Russian side expects to complete the necessary procedures for the opening of the Russian trade mission in Abu Dhabi by the end of 2015," Manturov said at a meeting with the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The opening of the mission would be an effective tool for the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries, and will increase the number of Russian investment projects in the UAE, the minister added.

"We have the potential for development - and in the transport infrastructure, and in the energy sector, both in the oil [sector] and in the development of atomic energy; that's transport, metallurgy, and a number of other areas," Manturov noted.

Russia and the United Arab Emirates are also planning to cooperate in other countries. "This applies to projects in Cuba for the development of a transport hub, there are possible projects in East Africa," he said.

By the end of 2013 trade turnover between Russia and the UAE exceeded $2.5 billion, while the volume of mutual investment reached $18 billion.
