Japanese companies are interested in participating in Russia's hi-tech hub, Skolkovo, presidential economic adviser Arkady Dvorkovich said.

"First of all, [the list of Japanese companies involves] Mitsui - they have interesting technologies which they are ready to develop in Skolkovo. They [these technologies] mostly concern energy efficiency," Dvorkovich who is a member of the Russian delegation to the APEC summit in Yokohama said.

He also said that there is an agreement with a Japanese pharmaceutical company concerning drugs production in Russia.

Russia is seeking for companies which are ready not only to sell their technologies, but also jointly develop them in Russia, Dvorkovich emphasized.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has called on foreign companies to participate in the Skolkovo project that is believed to be Russia's innovation hub.

In October, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, during his visit to Russia, brought to Moscow a delegation of U.S. investors interested in cooperation with the hi-tech hub.

U.S. Microsoft will establish a research and development center in Skolkovo along with the Italy's largest power company Enel that is also set to take part in the ambitious project.
