MOSCOW, July 10 (RIA Novosti) - International News Agency Rossiya Segodnya hosted a concert ahead of one of the most anticipated events in Crimean cultural life - the Koktebel Jazz Party, a festival that has become a pleasant surprise for Russian jazz fans.
The Koktebel Jazz Pre-Party was held Wednesday evening in the courtyard of the Rossiya Segodnya building. Future participants in the festival performed for the guests. The jazz-band consisted of Sergei Golovnya and his tenor saxophone, Yakov Okun on piano, Petr Vostokov on trumpet, Vladimir Koltsov playing the double bass and David Petrov setting the rhythm on the drums, while Irina Rodiles sang the vocals.
Prominent sax player Denis Shvitov and the art director of the Koktebel Jazz Party, Mikhail Ikonninov, were among the guests.
Before the concert started, Rossiya Segodnya Director-General Dmitry Kiselev made a welcoming address to the audience. Kiselev also suggested slogans for the 12th jazz festival in Koktebel and described the atmosphere there.
"Koktebel awakens an extraordinary kind energy of energy in you, you fall in love with everybody and I think this feeling spreads, filling the space around you," Kiselev said.
Kiselev also thanked the Russian Ministry of Culture and state media, including VGTRK and RT, and underlined the special role Rossiya Segodnya is playing as organizer of the Koktebel Jazz Party.
The Koktebel Jazz Pre-Party also welcomed social network users from Facebook and its Russian analog Vkontakte, who won tickets to the event online. The winners had a chance to meet the musicians and organizers of the concert.
The Koktebel Jazz Party will be held in Koktebel, Crimea, from September 12 to September 15 of 2014 with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture and Crimean authorities. The festival is expected to become one of the highlights of cultural life on the peninsula.
